Tech media outlet Windows Report published an article today (November 24) stating that Google has rolled out its first built-in AI image generation feature, codenamed “Nano Banana”, in the latest Canary channel version of Chrome for Android.

Users can now generate AI images directly within the browser, without needing to enable experimental flags or use a separate app. Enter a text prompt in the address bar, and the picture is created and displayed instantly on the same page with no redirection required.

The workflow is exceptionally straightforward. In the Android Chrome Canary build, users tap the address bar, where a new plus (+) icon appears. Tapping it opens a menu; select “Create image”.

A prompt area then appears below the address bar, offering example suggestions or allowing custom text input. After submission, Chrome generates and displays the image directly on the current page — the process is smooth and fast.

The feature is powered by Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, Google’s AI model explicitly optimized for mobile devices. Unlike Microsoft Edge, which opens a sidebar or navigates to a new page when generating images, Chrome’s in-page approach minimizes disruption to the user’s current task, delivering a noticeably superior experience.

For traceability of AI-generated content, every image created with this tool is automatically embedded with Google’s SynthID watermark. Users can verify the origin by uploading the image to the Gemini app. Currently, the feature is available only in the Android Chrome Canary build and has not yet been released to the stable or Beta channels.
