According to the gaming media outlet Eurogamer today, producer Masato Kumazawa of Resident Evil Requiem recently confirmed that some classic characters from past entries will appear in the game — but don’t get your hopes too high.

The report states that in the game, the protagonist Grace Ashcroft is, in fact, the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil: Escape from Raccoon City. Therefore, the media asked Kumazawa whether other legacy characters would make an appearance.

Kumazawa responded:

“I can say yes — there will indeed be some characters from past works appearing, but don’t over‑expect or hype. We cannot promise anything. The only thing I can say is that there will be characters involved in the Raccoon City incident.”

Previously, there had been many rumours that the series protagonists such as Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil 2 and Leon S. Kennedy (again) from Resident Evil 4 might be included in Requiem. Still, the game’s director, Koshi Nakanishi, said in June that Leon is “not the sort of person who would be scared by something dropping on him,” and thus is not appropriate for a horror‑themed setting.

According to earlier reporting by IT Home, Resident Evil Requiem is now available for pre-order with Chinese localisation. In the Steam China region, the Standard Edition is priced at ¥348, the Deluxe Edition at ¥398, and the game will launch on February 27 2026.

This game is the ninth main instalment in the Resident Evil series. Its story begins in the familiar setting of Raccoon City in the American Midwest, where players take on the role of FBI Agent Grace Ashcroft, investigating mysterious deaths in an abandoned hotel and embarking on a classic survival-horror journey.
