Go to the coffin shop (棺材铺) at the southeast corner of Kaifeng. Enter one of the coffins — doing so will transport you to the Ghost Market (鬼市).
At the entrance of the Ghost Market, you’ll meet a “horse‑face spirit” (马面) who gives you a Ghost Market mask. You must wear this mask to trade with the market’s merchants.
Near the entrance, you can also find a small easter‑egg — interacting with two cats can trigger a little scene referencing “open door / settle / nobody supports my lofty ambition, I will walk through snow to the mountain top,” adding atmosphere to the market.
To proceed safely: set the in‑game time to Mao Hour (卯时) — at this time, the Ghost Market closes. Then talk to Liu Changsheng (刘长生). He assigns you a task: you must find three treasure chests with equipment. One is located by turning right on exit; two are located by turning left. In each case, follow green lanterns and avoid or ignore hostile ghost‑soldiers (阴兵). As soon as you grab a chest, run.
- First exit by turning right, follow green lanterns — by the water, you meet Jin Yunhai (今云海), who gives you the location of one chest.
- Return to the starting spot, then exit by turning left. Climb a staircase to a fork: there is one chest on each side.
- On the right side, you meet Nan Lü Gong (南吕公) — he points out another chest.
- On the left side, cross a bridge at a higher level and meet Xiang Gutong (向孤桐) — he also tells you where to find the chest.
Once you have collected all three chests, return to Liu Changsheng. Equip the Ghost‑soldier armor (阴兵甲) — wearing it prevents the ghost soldiers from attacking you.
Follow a group of ghost soldiers to the Ghost Gate (鬼门). Confront and defeat Zhu Yousheng (朱佑生). After the fight, the task ends — you’ll see a group of ghost soldiers kneeling before a sea of flowers; there is a stone stele on a high platform where you can read an elegy.
