Developer Larian Studios is once again in a bit of a quandary, as their blockbuster Baldur’s Gate 3 has been nominated for the 2025 The Game Awards 2025’ “Best Community Support” award.
This RPG masterpiece swept major award shows back in 2023, winning numerous accolades—including Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023, the Steam Awards, and the Golden Joystick Awards.
In 2024, it maintained momentum, taking home five awards at the BAFTA Games Awards 2024, including “Game of the Year” and the “Player’s Choice” award.
Larian’s CEO, Swen Vincke, had even pleaded with the player community to stop awarding them so much, noting that the endless honours made the team feel like they never got “closure” on the project.
Just when it seemed things would calm down, a month later, Baldur’s Gate 3 went on to win the 2024 Hugo Award for Best Interactive Work.
And now, in 2025, it’s nominated yet again—leaving many amused and shaking their heads.
On the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, the response was gracious:
“It’s a complete honour to have been nominated for Best Community Support again this year. This nomination is actually a testimony to your enduring passion and enthusiasm for Baldur’s Gate 3.”
Meanwhile, the Larian Studios official account was far more candid:
“Honestly, what the f**k? Thanks, everyone.”
This candid reaction sparked a quick discussion among the players.
The answer is obvious. Although Larian has repeatedly stated that the project was “finished,” since the game’s 2023 release, they’ve continued rolling out significant free updates, including new features, bug fixes, and community feedback. Notably, in April 2025, they released the final major patch (Patch 8) and improved native support for the Steam Deck.
This sustained care for players means that even two years on, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to stay in the spotlight.
The Game Awards 2025 will be held on December 11 in Los Angeles—results to be eagerly watched. It seems this RPG legend is far from done.
