Paul Douglas, the co-founder of Tomb Raider, has shared his thoughts on the recently announced remake of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis (the ground-up reimagining of the original 1996 game revealed at The Game Awards 2025).

Recently, fans noticed that Douglas posted on his Bluesky account on December 11 his personal take on the remake. In the post, he shared a sketch of a dinosaur and wrote:

“Heh, looks like she’s back. Personally, I’d rather explore an entirely new lost world than remake/re-imagine/re-interpret what we created in the 90s under enormous pressure.”

This comment seemed to signal his lukewarm view toward re-envisioning the classic Tomb Raider under modern constraints. Before the TGA 2025 trailer reveal, no one knew precisely what his post referred to—but now it’s clear: Douglas isn’t very optimistic about the remake.

Interestingly, in a subsequent Bluesky post, Douglas shared another message reading:

“Have your cake and eat it too… at least the dinosaurs do.”
This later post has been interpreted by some fans as a more ambiguous or even ironic remark, leaving his exact stance somewhat open to interpretation
