In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, Greg Kasavin, the creative director of Hades 2, addressed how the sequel’s design balances its roguelike nature with expanded narrative content. Kasavin explained that, like the original Hades, Hades 2 is technically a game that players can keep playing indefinitely, so he understands fans’ desire for more story content within the experience.
As the sequel to the critically acclaimed Hades, the development team has worked hard not only to honor the first game’s world but also to craft an entirely new narrative. During the early access phase, the team spent extensive time iterating on the plot and refining key story moments to ensure the narrative feels meaningful and integrated with the gameplay.
Kasavin shared that the game’s script now exceeds 400,000 words, featuring over 30,000 lines of recorded dialogue—approximately 50% more than the original Hades. This larger script reflects the team’s commitment to adding important details and depth for all characters in the game’s expanded mythological world.
