Where Winds Meet Surpasses 9 Million Players After Overseas Launch, Far Exceeding All Internal Expectations
Since its overseas launch on November 15th, Where Winds Meet has surpassed nine million players, and the development team has revealed that this figure far exceeded all internal expectations.
In an interview with FRVR, game producer Beralt Lyu stated that while they always had confidence in the wuxia world they created, the sheer number of players was still a huge surprise. "We hoped it would find its audience—players who would fall in love with the freedom and sense of mystery we worked so hard to create. But 9 million in two weeks... honestly, that number exceeded all of our internal projections."
He continued: "The atmosphere in the studio is hard to describe. There's pride and excitement, of course—seeing years of hard work resonate with so many people is an unparalleled feeling. But what strikes us most is the sense of responsibility. Those 9 million aren't just a number; they represent 9 million individual journeys into our world. Seeing players share stories on social media, delve into the martial arts systems, and deeply explore the game's lore... It's both incredibly inspiring and deeply humbling."
Beralt Lyu stated that the most important thing for the team right now is to repay the trust of millions of players. "Simply put, the overwhelming feeling is one of deep gratitude and focused determination. This incredible trust isn't an endpoint—it's fuel. It drives us to keep improving and expanding this world for everyone. The journey has only just begun, and we're incredibly grateful to have such an amazing community walking alongside us."
Beralt Lyu also revealed that Where Winds Meet will not adopt a pay-to-win model, nor will it pursue other aggressive monetization methods. Instead, they will focus on cosmetic items, which he believes will ultimately give them a competitive advantage. "We have to protect our biggest commercial advantage, which is offering an experience free from pay-to-win mechanics. So, guided by this principle, we see no need to adopt aggressive strategies or introduce paid items that affect character power in the future."
