Samsung has announced a ₩450 trillion (approximately RMB 2.18 trillion) domestic investment plan to be carried out over the next five years. The initiative focuses on semiconductors, AI data centres, next-generation batteries and OLED displays, while promoting balanced development across regions outside the Seoul metropolitan area.

The announcement came shortly after U.S.–Korea tariff and security consultations, during which Samsung formally confirmed the plan. Addressing concerns that rising U.S. investments might reduce domestic spending, Samsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong stated that the company will “double down on expanding domestic investment.” He also reaffirmed Samsung’s commitment to hire 60,000 employees annually in Korea over the next five years.

Through increased technology investment and CSR programs, Samsung aims to support youth employment, strengthen SMEs and startups, and reinforce South Korea’s strategic position in the global AI and semiconductor supply chain.
