Following Star Wars Outlaws, publisher Ubisoft’s big-budget title Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now officially available on Nintendo Switch 2. According to a recent comparison from IGN, the Switch 2 version stacks up surprisingly well against the PC version.
Although the Switch 2 version doesn’t support ray tracing or 4K resolution, the game still performs solidly in both handheld and docked modes.
- Docked mode: Basic output resolution is relatively modest — around 648p — then upscaled.
- Handheld mode: Starts even lower — around 4:00 p.m. — then upscaled.
- Frame rate: The game hits a stable 30 FPS cap in both modes.
IGN and others note that even without top-tier resolution or effects, the Switch 2 port looks and plays “surprisingly good.” For its hardware class, this is a noteworthy technical achievement.
That said, some reports mention performance issues. In docked mode, players have observed stutters and uneven frame pacing, which can occasionally drop performance into the mid-20s FPS.
Overall, the port trades off graphical fidelity (less detailed lighting, shadows, draw distance, reflections, etc.) for a stable, portable-friendly experience that preserves the core stealth/action gameplay, traversal, and combat — a compromise many see as reasonable given the Switch 2’s hardware limitations.
