Add to that various Valve insiders in recent years claiming that the game is actively in development, and now a bold fan theory argues that this legendary sequel may soon reveal itself.
The leaker in question presented a theory based on the schedule of the Steam storefront homepage — they believe Half‑Life 3 could be unveiled as early as November 18. Valve normally uses large banners on the Steam home page to promote major events and sales. But fans observed that between November 18 and December 8, no activity was scheduled on the Steam homepage — a striking blank for Steam.
Further, Valve moved its usual November Steam Autumn Sale up to September that year — when asked, they said it was intentional, but gave no further explanation.
These irregularities have led fans to speculate that Valve may be clearing out prime homepage promotional real estate just in case they’re gearing up for a Half‑Life 3 announcement. The date of November 18 is given extra weight because it’s the anniversary of Half‑Life: Alyx’s announcement day.
If Valve were to choose that date to announce Half‑Life 3, they could then direct momentum toward the upcoming The Game Awards (TGA) on December 11 and unveil a full trailer there.
