Co-op in Where Winds Meet — What works / what you can do together

  • The game supports a co-op mode: you can team up with friends to explore the world, fight bosses, clear dungeons/outposts, do group activities, and play minigames together.
  • For “campaign dungeons” or specific co-op-enabled content, you can get shared rewards: loot, EXP, unlocks (skills or mystic arts), and quest credit — if the stage is started as a “shared-progression co-op quest.”
  • Co-op mode remains optional: you can start in Solo mode and switch to Co-op (or MMO/online mode) later.
  • Multiplayer supports teaming up for group boss fights, outposts, exploration, and shared-world events — which can be helpful if you want help or want to farm together.

⚠️ What Co-op Progression Doesn’t Always Include — Common Limitations

  • The main story (main quest / “MSQ”) cannot be completed in co-op. If you want to progress the main storyline, you have to do that in solo mode.
  • Some co-op sessions are “assist mode” only: if you join someone else’s world rather than launching a proper co-op-quest instance, then only the host gets quest completion/progress — guests may help with fights but won’t get the whole progression or rewards.
  • Progression unlocks (e.g. key story-based unlocks, main-quest reward items) don’t always sync for guests in those assist sessions.
  • Some modes or content (e.g. specific high-difficulty Legendary story chapters, or perhaps some “single-player only” features) may be unavailable in co-op.

🎯 What That Means for Your Playthrough & Co-op Strategy

  • If you and your friends want to experience the main story together, that won’t work — the main story progress must be done solo (or by one person hosting).
  • Co-op is ideal for side content, exploration, group dungeons, world bosses, loot-farming, and just messing around together.
  • For full benefit (shared progress, rewards, unlocks), you want to ensure you start “proper co-op quests” (not just join as a guest in a random world) — i.e. use the “co-op room/co-op instance” flow.
  • Solo mode remains the backbone of your progression — levelling, story, unlocking skills/gear — with co-op as an optional boost or social add-on.
