To unlock this quest, your Qinghe Exploration needs to reach 6000.

A faster way to build exploration points includes activating fast-travel stones and doing Miaomiao Cat puzzles. While exploring, it’s recommended to open plenty of treasure chests and also collect “oddities” so you can trade them to Qi Sheng for rewards along the way.

Once your Qinghe Exploration reaches 6000, the quest will appear at Foguang Peak (佛光顶).

You can go to the top of Foguang Pagoda, set the time to noon, then place the paired Foguang Jades you obtained from Spring and Autumn Villa and Bodhi Bitter Sea. You’ll then see Miaoshan enter the tower.

Head to the base of the pagoda and follow Miaoshan’s footprints. You’ll find a mechanism on the wall that opens the entrance leading underground.

Inspect the Buddha statue to learn that you can rotate the statue by offering a bit of blood.

Rotate the statue so that the light beam shines toward the door—the door will open.

Follow the light and continue solving puzzles by rotating multiple Buddha statues, causing the light to reflect numerous times until it reaches the door, as shown in the guide image.

While crawling through a hole, you’ll drop to a lower level. Examine the corpse there, and the surrounding bronze figures will come to life. These bronze figures are immune to weapons, so you must defeat them using Deflection/Parry (卸势).

After defeating the bronze figures, you can open the door and enter a tunnel. The branch path on the left leads back to where you fell earlier—there’s a treasure chest there.

Follow the tunnel to the end and enter a bottomless pit.

After jumping down onto the Buddha’s hand, note there’s a path to the right where you can pick up “Shanyue’s Thoughts · Field Chapter (《山月心事·田篇》)”, which records the story of Tian Ying and the blind Moon Deity.

If you carefully read the documents you’ve collected from earlier side quests, you can basically piece together the whole backstory. This Tian Ying is a historically recorded assassin who killed a Khitan envoy who had already arrived in Southern Tang, causing a breakdown in cooperation between the Khitan and Southern Tang.

Keep descending until you reach the bottom. Rotate the Buddha statue to open the door, then begin the boss fight against Miaoshan (i.e., Tian Ying).

Recommended setup:

• Bring the martial art Mingchuan Medical Codex for healing.
• Bring Mystic Arts like Acupoint Strike (点穴) and Lingyun Step (凌云踏) to interrupt the boss.
• You must be proficient with Deflection/Parry (卸势).

Before the boss fight, you can use “Ally Assistance” (故人助战) to summon an NPC helper, such as the powerful “Blade Bro.” If you can’t win solo, try online matchmaking and defeat the boss cooperatively. In co-op, make good use of Mingchuan Medical Codex’s revive ability to support each other.

Boss phases:

• Phase 1: When he raises his hand, you can use Acupoint Strike to interrupt.
• Phase 2: When he summons Buddha statues in midair, avoid standing directly in front of him. Stay at range to dodge the shockwave, or use Deflection/Parry to block it.
• Phase 3: Assassin Tian Ying’s movement becomes extremely elusive—keep responding with Deflection/Parry. His clones are also dangerous; try to avoid them and wait until Tian Ying blinks in front of you, then parry.

After defeating Tian Ying, if you later collect all Dark Surge Fragments (暗涌碎片), you can unlock a hidden ending animation under Wulin Record → “Light and Shadow Stories” (武林录·明暗故事).
