Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has just received a significant free update on December 12, 2025! This new patch adds a brand-new map called Verso’s Drafts for players to explore, as well as several high-difficulty challenge bosses in the Endless Tower area. These include enhanced boss variants such as Simon the Divergent Star, Clea Unleashed, Chromatic Lampmaster, and Duollistes, all boasting dramatically increased challenge and mechanics compared to previous encounters.

The Endless Tower—an ongoing optional gauntlet within the game—is now populated with these extremely tough new foes. Before this update, the hidden optional boss Simon was widely regarded as the most challenging opponent, unlockable in the optional area Renoir’s Drafts after progressing into Act III and unlocking the character Esquie’s abilities.

However, the updated version introduces “Simon the Divergent Star” and others with substantially increased stats and dangerous new attacks, making previously reliable tactics far less effective and forcing players to rely more on core combat fundamentals like blocking and precise dodging.

Many players who had already completed the game have returned to tackle these new bosses, and community reactions reflect both excitement and exasperation, given the extremely great difficulty, with some noting that each new boss feels even more punishing than the last.

Thankfully, all of these extremely challenging fights are optional and do not affect achievement/trophy progression, and no new achievements or trophies were added with this update.
