Zephyr Zefu Apologises for Mismatched RTX 5070 Ti Deep Abyss Pro Max Cards, Offers Three Remedies
Graphics-card maker Zephyr Zefu issued a formal apology on 6 November for a mis-specification incident affecting some units of its RTX 5070 Ti “Deep Abyss Pro Max” model. According to the company, although the product’s original detail page described a thickness of 60 mm, some buyers received the “S” version with a thickness of only 50 mm.
What went wrong
The company explains that a third-party supplier handled the card’s manufacturing phase and that upstream-supplied materials no longer matched the approved sample specifications. While the 50 mm “S” version reportedly delivers the same performance and acoustic (noise) levels as the 60 mm version, internal testing found that GPU core and memory temperatures run about 5-7 °C higher under stress when using the thinner version.
Offered solutions
Zephyr Zefu is offering affected customers three resolution paths:
- Full refund, including return shipping, covered by Zephyr Zefu.
- Replacement: exchange the thinner card for the correct 60 mm version.
- Compensation: Keep the delivered 50 mm unit and receive a cash credit of ¥100 (or equivalent) plus an additional one-year “exchange new” service warranty.
Additional context
The affected RTX 5070 Ti Deep Abyss Pro Max shares an external design and cooler profile that are very similar to those of the Palit “GamingPro” series cards. Hardware observers have noted the resemblance.
