According to a report from Bloomberg, Tencent’s revenue outside of China now surpasses that of EA, Roblox, and GTA. The company continues to identify promising studios around the world, providing them with financial backing while, in most cases, refraining from interfering in their operations.

Former World of Warcraft producer Mark Kern commented that Tencent has succeeded where many Western game companies have failed in terms of acquisitions. For example, he claimed that EA “kills” every IP and studio it acquires, whereas Tencent has found ways to help these studios grow. Instead of trying to turn every developer into an “EA studio,” Tencent allows them to remain independent, which he believes is the key to success.

Elon Musk also replied to this post on social media, saying that “their taste is excellent.”
