Tech site “快科技” reported on December 8 that 苹果 (Apple) today launched a year-end price cut across its official e-commerce flagship stores — covering platforms such as 京东 and 天猫. The discount applies to the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models, each of which is reduced by 300 RMB.
After the discount, the iPhone 17 Pro starts at 8,699 RMB, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at 9,699 RMB.
This price matches the official flagship-store pricing from the “Double 11” sales event, and is likely to remain the lowest official price for the next half-year.
However, this price is still significantly higher than some subsidized prices on specific e-commerce platforms. For example, through the subsidy program on 拼多多, the iPhone 17 Pro can be purchased for as low as 7,999 RMB — and that’s already an everyday price; additional promotions may reduce it further.
This year, the iPhone 17 Pro series underwent significant changes in both design and configuration. They were described by many as “the toothpaste-push to the limit” generation — right from launch, it sold out rapidly. Its popularity was reflected in a sharp surge in demand.
According to a report by market research company Counterpoint Research, in October, Apple’s iPhone represented 25% of smartphone sales in the Chinese market — meaning one in every four phones sold was an iPhone. This was a milestone Apple had not achieved since 2022.
Within Apple’s sales that month, the iPhone 17 series accounted for more than 80% of total iPhone shipments. All variants — the base model, Pro, and Pro Max — saw double-digit growth, with the base version growing the fastest. This surge has helped Apple post its strongest start to Q4 ever, with sales far exceeding the historical record from October 2021.
Entering November, iPhone sales momentum has not slowed, and analysts forecast that December sales could break quarterly records for the second consecutive year.
