What’s new in Dying Light: The Beast — Update 1.4

  • New Game + — You can now replay the whole main story (Kyle Crane’s journey) while keeping all your equipment, weapons, and character progression from your first playthrough. Enemies scale up, and more challenging enemies, higher‑tier loot, and rarer weapons become available.
  • Legend Levels — Once your character reaches level 15, all further experience goes toward “Legend XP,” unlocking an additional layer of progression. Each Legend Level grants “Legend Points” used to increase max health, boost combat stats, improve passive abilities (e.g., “beast mode power”), etc.
  • New gear & rewards — The update introduces 22 new weapons (melee and guns, including retro‑style weapons), and adds vehicle skins and complete outfit sets to unlock via Legend progression.
  • Ray tracing (PC) — The patch introduces PC ray-tracing support, enhancing lighting, shadows, and reflections to improve visual realism significantly.
  • Combat/gameplay improvements — The update also adds new finishing moves (finishers) tied to different weapon types (one-handed blunt, two-handed blunt, and slasher weapons), enhancing combat variety.
  • Large‑scale fixes & optimizations — Over 400 improvements/fixes, including fixes to over 200 parkour and navigation issues, multiple performance and stability fixes, over 70 graphical/visual corrections (textures, clipping, model issues, lighting bugs), as well as UI/audio/locale fixes.

🎯 What this means for players

  • New Game+ plus Legend Levels give the game much stronger replay value and end‑game longevity — you’re not just replaying the story for fun, but you get extra challenges, better loot, and long‑term character growth.
  • For PC players with capable hardware, the added ray tracing can significantly improve immersion and visual atmosphere — especially in darker or more atmospheric areas.
  • The large number of bug fixes and improvements should make the game more stable, polished, and enjoyable overall — especially for parkour/navigation, which have historically been pain points.
  • For those who finished the base game, this is probably the best time to jump back in — especially if they want to experience a more complex challenge or hunt for rare gear.
